YouTube will launch a dedicated site for games and applications in an effort to compete service owned by Amazon, Twitch. Twitch allows gaming fans to watch and interact with live broadcasts of others who are playing games. Google - which owns YouTube - understood to have made an offer for Twitch last year. The search giant said the service will begin at the end of this summer.
In a blog post, YouTube Gaming manager Alan Joyce said inter alia: "On YouTube, the games have brought entirely new genres of 'let's plays, walkthroughs, and speedruns to cooking and music videos. Now it's our turn to regain the favor of something built especially for gamers. "
