Google Apps offers a URL forwarding feature called custom URLs (web addresses) that allows you to create simple, easy-to-remember URLs for the services available in the core Google Apps suite. For example, with a custom URL, users could sign in to Gmail at mail.primary-domain-name.com instead of at the default address mail.google.com/a/primary-domain-name.com. You can create a custom URL for each core Google Apps service (Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, and more).

Custom URLs work only for user accounts in your primary domain. Users who sign in with a domain alias address or an address in any other domain associated with your Google Apps account must instead access services using the default URL. (See other limitations with multiple domains.)
If you would like to transfer an existing custom URL to point to a different service, be sure to deactivate the existing URL before using it again. (Please allow three hours for the address to expire. After this time, the address can be set up for a different service.)

To create a custom URL:

Sign in to the Google Admin console.

Do one of the following:
In the classic Admin console, click Settings tab, select the service with the URL you want to customize, then click General.
In the new Admin console, click Company profile > Custom URLs.

In the Web address section, click Change URL. Then fill in the form to create a custom address, typing a prefix for your new web address. Some sample prefixes include mail, inbox, home, pages, calendar, events, and main.

To customize the URLs for all your services at once, you can instead click Change URLs for all domain services and fill in the form for each service.
Click Save changes.

Follow instructions that appear to create a CNAME record with your domain host. You must create a record for each service whose URL you're customizing. For example, to create the Gmail URL mail.primary-domain-name.com, create a CNAME record that points mail to ghs.googlehosted.com

Skip this step if you purchased your domain from one of our domain registration partners, GoDaddy or eNom during the sign-up process. If you signed up for a domain name with one of our registration partners during the Apps account sign-up process, we’ve already configured the following CNAME records for you to associate with your services:
mail.primary-domain-name.com
calendar.primary-domain-name.com
www.primary-domain-name.com
docs.primary-domain-name.com
You may simply set these up from your Admin console using the instructions below.

Creating a custom URL requires logging in to your account at your domain host's website, not with Google. (You might have already done this to verify your domain, in which case you'll find the steps are similar.)
